It seems like forever since my last blog. As a matter of fact, it's been just over 2 weeks. The first of those 2 weeks was the week of Jennifer's birthday. I had lost 5 pounds the previous week, which got me down to 384, but I was concerned with some of the temptations that I would face in conjunction with birthday celebrations. I was right to be concerned. The biggest mistake I made was going into the week with the mindset that it was going to be a bad week. That's just not a good idea. With every temptation, I just said, "bring it on," and chalked it up to a bad week. I did, however, learn a valuable lesson that could help me on my journey through the holiday season. Bad days will happen on occasion, but don't throw a whole week away.
The week of Jennifer's birthday included the following: Dinner at her parent's house (I was pretty good minus the Turtle Cheesecake), Dinner at Pappacita's (Mexican food - not good. The chips and flour tortillas just keep coming), Dinner at Olive Garden (Have you ever had their Pumpkin Cheesecake), and a celebratory meal with the high school volleyball team at The Butcher Shop (They have amazing strawberry cheesecake - I see a pattern developing). All that and I only gained 2 pounds. From 384 to 386. I was upset that I let myself gain some weight back, but it could have been worse.
Last week was a much better week. I was back on my diet (no cheesecake). I even went walking again. I haven't gotten back in a routine of walking but walking every now and then is better than nothing. At the end of the week, I was down to 378. A loss of 8 pounds and only 8 pounds away from my 10% goal. Hopefully this week will bring the same success that last week brought.
